                             June 24, 1991

A one-day workshop on Linda-like systems and their implementation will
be held at the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) on Monday,
June 24. The purpose of the workshop is to give British and European
researchers who are interested in the Linda model, and in ways of
extending, modifying, and exploiting it, an opportunity to meet with one
another and discuss their work.

Researchers interested in Linda-like systems are invited to submit a
one-page summary of their work to:

        Greg Wilson
        Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre
        James Clerk Maxwell Building
        University of Edinburgh
        Mayfield Road
        Edinburgh EH9 3JZ
        Tel. UK (31) 650 5023
        Fax. UK (31) 662 4712
        gvw@uk.ac.ed.castle

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 19 April. Invitations to attend
will be made on the basis of these submissions. Each attendee will be
asked to present a half-hour talk on his or her work based on the
summary submitted.

We would like to thank those people who have already made submissions,
and invite others in the UK and Europe who are working with Linda or
Linda-like systems to visit Edinburgh in June. Please note the deadline
(April 19); we would be grateful if all submissions were in by then.

                              ----------

Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) is a multi-disciplinary
institution engaged in research and commercial development in parallel
computing. It is home to a wide range of parallel computing equipment,
including: a Computing Surface with more than 400 T800 transputers and
over 300 users; the UK Grand Challenge machine, which contains 64
i860/T800 hybrid nodes; and both a 64x64 and a 32x32 AMT DAP. EPCC has
a full-time staff of 26, and a large number of associates in computer
science and the physical sciences. Its members have developed
implementations of Prolog-Linda and Scheme-Linda for a variety of
platforms.
