RESEARCH POSITION IN PARALLEL SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING Dept. of Computer Science Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Belgium The department of Computer Science of the K.U.Leuven, Belgium has a vacancy on a project on SOFTWARE TOOLS AND ALGORITHMS FOR GEOMETRICALLY PARALLEL APPLICATIONS This project aims at - the development of tools and libraries that are useful for the parallelisation of problems defined on a geometrical domain, such as partial differential equations, image processing, computer graphics (e.g. radiosity methods) - research on static and dynamic load balancing techniques for these problems The research group `Parallel Scientific Computing' of the department of Computer Science, KULeuven consists of 8 researchers and has a broad experience on parallel algorithms for partial differential equations (multigrid, CFD, ...) and image processing. Recent research deals with software tools for irregular adaptive grids and load balancing. The research group participates in several projects funded by the Belgian Government & Ministry of Science, the E.C. (Esprit PCA), ESA and Intel Supercomputer Division. The available parallel computing facilities consist of - a 16-processor Intel iPSC/2 - a 16-processor Meiko In-Sun system (with CSTools, Helios and Express) - a 4-processor Intel iPSC/860 (planned for end '91) - internet access to large parallel computing facilities The vacant position is for 3-4 years (beginning in Sept. or Oct. '91) and can lead to a Ph.D. Applications at a post-doc level (for 1-2 years) are also welcome. For more information, please contact Dr. D. Roose Dept. of Computer Science K. U.
