If I want a microcomputer that's good for attaching real-world devices to, rather than for games, word processing, or education, what should I buy? I realize many computers have I/O extension cards for such things, but I thought perhaps some are better suited to it than others, especially if I don't have to buy a lot of stuff I don't need. I don't think I really even care about disc drives (vs. cassette); this would be a set-it-and- forget-it system. My impression is that most people build their own computer controllers for these purposes, so maybe this is a hopeless quest. seismo!rochester!Jim.Heliotis
