I just got a VIC20 at Crazy Eddie's for about $160. At that price, I makes a reasonable toy and lets me do simple game programming easily (it's easy to read the joy stick or paddles, and graphics are not to hard). It also plays music. I think it's cute as hell, but there is little software or cartridges for it and those that exist are of unknown quality (though there was an article on VIC20 products in a recent Creative Computing). I'd like to see a newsgroup on the VIC20 start up so comments on software can be shared. I don't want to get into pirating software for it, though free exchange of personally developed programs would be okay. The newsgroup would be called net.micro.vic20 though the file system would chop the last zero off the end. How are new newsgroups formed, by a submission to a new group? If so, someone tell me, or do it yourself. Gary Perlman Bell Labs MH 5D-105 mhb5b!gsp x3624
