Hello,
As you may have seen mentioned in a previous posting, Cherri Pancake and
I have compiled a bibliography on parallel debuggers which was published
in Sigplan Notices 24(10):29-42 (Oct. 1989). It includes technical
reports, journals and conference papers, and Ph.D. dissertations
dealing with parallel debuggers. No distinction is made between tools
for parallel and for distributed systems, although debuggers implemented
on multiprocessor or multicomputer architectures which are only capable
of analyzing serial programs have been omitted. Treatments of parallel
programming environments, debugging methodology, or techniques for
program analysis are included when a significant portion of the
publication is devoted to factors influencing the design/implementation
of debugging tools.
We plan on updating the bibliography periodically. The first is
scheduled for August 30th, 1990. If you come across any additions or
corrections which could be included in this update, please send them to
me (psu@cornellf.tn.cornell.edu) or Cherri (pancake@ducvax.auburn.edu)
by August 15th. Many thanks to those who have already notified us of
changes.
The bibliography is available via anonymous ftp, in either BIBTEX or
refer format. It can be retrieved by the following steps:
1. Open a connection to devvax.tn.cornell.edu through ftp:
'ftp devvax.tn.cornell.edu'
2. Log on by entering 'anonymous' at the login name prompt;
any password will be accepted at the password prompt.
3. Issue the change directory command to get to the appropriate
directory:
'cd pub/debugger'
4. Issue the ftp 'get' command to transfer the desired form of the
bibliography:
'get debugger.rfr' (to transfer the refer version)
'get debugger.bib' (to transfer the BIBTEX version)
Since the bibliography will be periodically updated, we request that you
send e-mail to me so that we can add your name to a mailing list to
receive notice of when such changes are being made. Feel free to tell
anyone about how to get the bibliographies, but do ask them to contact
us at the above e-mail address so we can include them in update
notifications also.
If you have any problems getting the bibliography files please let me
know and I'll be glad to send them to you via e-mail. Again, we'd
appreciate any corrections or additions you might know about. Thanks.

The parallel debugger bibliography maintained by Cherri Pancake and
myself has been moved due to some systems changes. First of all, the
name of the host the debugger resides on is being changed from
eagle.cnsf.cornell.edu to eagle.tc.cornell.edu. Secondly, all the
debugger files have been moved into a separate directory, called
/pub/debugger.biblio. A README file is included in the directory
which lists the available files.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments about the
