[comp.parallel] Application Specific ICs

S.P.Lam@cs.bham.ac.uk (Steven Lam) (06/19/91)

Anybody out there can give me some comments on the following,

about Application Specific Integrated Circuits,
1. how many companies offer ASIC design and fabrication?
2. In England, we use TI gate array and standard cell library,
and an European ES2 library too, but you know any other?
3. What is the state-of-the-art ASIC technology, i.e. how many
transistors on a single chip? What are their normal yield
during fabrication? I know there are companies in Japan
who design some sub-micron ASICs, can anyone tell me a bit
	more?

Comments can be sent to spsl@uk.ac.bham.cs

Thanks in advance

Stephen
