[net.micro] Convert Your DEC VT100 to a Personal Computer for $1795

aark (12/10/82)

I just received some promotional literature from DEC. As it might
be interesting to many on the net, I am summarizing it below.

If you own a DEC VT100 terminal, you can buy a package of hardware
and software that converts it into a full-fledged personal micro-
computer. For a limited time, DEC is offering this package for
$1795 (a $920 savings over the normal price of $2715). The package
includes:

	- A processor card that goes inside the VT100 case, with 64K RAM.

	- A dual minifloppy disk drive that sits on top of the VT100
	monitor, with 360 Kbyte capacity.

	- CP/M operating system.

	- SELECT word processing program.

	- MULTIPLAN electronic spreadsheet.

	- Microsoft BASIC interpreter.

The ad concludes: "To take advantage of this remarkable opportunity,
call our toll-free ordering number -- 800-258-1710. Act quickly
since this offer expires January 31, 1983. Offer valid only in the
United States."

Although I can send copies of DEC's promotional literature if you're
interested, I am not familiar with this system and cannot answer
questions about it. For further information, contact your local
DEC sales office.
