From: Mike Chepponis <Chepponis.CMU-CS-C@BRL> I think we should discuss Xanadu(tm) on micro, and not on a separate list - if it has anything to do with microes, it should be on info-micro. If we choose our Subject: lines on our messages carefully, people can bypass messages which don't interest them. One list is better because one's internal "interest list" changes over time, and, besides, we may not be aware of all the related lists anyway. BTW, has anyone sent $100 to Ted Nelson to reserve his/her unique Xanadu(tm) username? I haven't, but a friend of mine is threating to do so. -Mike Chepponis (Chepponis@CMU-CS-C) -------

Excuse me, but I don't see how Xanadu(tm) has anything to do with micros per se. I would like to see a separate news-group to discuss Xanadu and Hypertext and like things. Geo Swan Integrated Studies University of Waterloo

Does anyone out there know what's been happening to Ted Nelson and Xanadu recently? The last I heard (Datamation, ~Mar 82), they had finished the implementation of Xanadu in C on a UNIX-like system (ONYX), and would soon start licensing it for the VAX. The license was to be in the neighbourhood of $25,000, and they intended to sell the system to large companies with sophisticated on-line documentation requirements. Once they've made enough that way, they'll take it to The People, with purple Xanadu franchises and stuff. How's it going? --ravi
