For those of you who were inquiring about C++ for the Amiga a while back, I just got the June issue of Amiga World and Lattice has an ad for C++ which according to the ad is "now at a software supplier near you", which probably means sometime this summer. Chris. ...!rochester!kodak!ektools!barrett

Now there's a language! Anyone out there know details about the implementation style? More specifically, does the C++ compiler generate C-code or executables? If it generates C-code, is it generic enough to use with a different compiler (I know I'm nuts asking that last one, but it is worth a try...)? Cost? Boy, this is going to be a hard choice...on the one hand there is a nice Lattice 4.0 with C++...on the other hand there is a nice Manx 3.6 with a debugger...this isn't fair! -Chris -- Chris Lishka /{seismo|harvard|topaz|...}!uwvax!uwslh!lishka Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene { lishka%uwslh.uucp@rsch.wisc.edu "My cockatiels control my mind!" \lishka@uwslh.uucp

I called the 1-800 given in the AmigaWorld ad to ask about C++. The person I spoke with had no information about price, availability, or "anything else not in the ad." He promised to mail information to me just as soon as they gave any to him. Sounds very much like vaporware to me.

Will this be a preproccessor? Will you require Lattice C? Anyone have details on C++?

A call to the number Lattice gave in the ad yielded only terse info from one of their phone-jockeys: - The guy I spoke with asserted that it is a C++ compiler. I did my best to confirm that he knew the distinction with C++ compilers and translators, but I wasn't convinced. - He could not put me through to someone who knew more about the product, though offered to put me on a mailing list for more information. - Shipping: July `88 - Price: Not yet determined LAB ANALYSIS: High Vapor Content. I just saw a Smalltalk-to-Objective-C translator in the sources group. Anyone know how feasible it'd be to turn that into a Smalltalk-to- C-- translator? I'm not really up on the diff. between O.C. and C++. Doug
