[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Using FutureSound and the Amiga as an Electronic Tutor

I'm posting this for a friend... reply to [or refer to] siannce@polyslo.UUCP,
not to me.

A friend of mine just bought one of those portable electronic tuners, and that
got me thinking, "If that little thing can do it then so could my amiga." Seeing
as though I have a digitizer (FutureSound) it seemed entirely likely that it
should be possible.
What I want to do is be able to receive real-time input from the
digitizer and then display the results on the screen something like:

    FLAT VV SHARP
------------------------------------------------------------
| $ !
------------------------------------------------------------

(Note: The above would be rendered in graphics not text...)

Where the '$' would be a line that would represent the sounds relative
frequency to that of the nearest note.
What I think I need the most help on would be getting the frequency
of the incoming tone. Any ideas?
Seeing as though it's getting near the ned of the schoole-year (i.e.
2 days) and I'll be going home for the summer, although I may come-up and use
father's office to see if I got any replies (we only live 45 minutes away from
the campus), so I'd appreciate any responses be sent e-mail, and if you think
that others on the net might benefit you could post it on there too.
		Thanks for the help...
