[comp.sys.amiga.tech] question about 500 and 2000 keyboards

davidc@pyr.gatech.EDU (David Carter) (07/12/88)

Are the keyboard printed circuit boards in the Amigas 500 and 2000 the same
physically (i.e. could the two be swapped and still =fit= correctly)?

OK, how about electrically: can the two be swapped and the respective Amigas
not notice the difference (i.e. is the only electrical difference the cable)?
Does a 2000 keyboard have empty holes for the Power and Drive LEDs? Does it
generate the _KBRESET signal internally (just doesn't make it back to the
A2000)? Is there a way to make the A500 keyboard generate the "shut down"
(Ctrl-A-A reset) message?

Why? I'm looking at connecting a detached keyboard to a 500, the easiest
being a replacement 2000 keyboard (with a new cable, to provide _KBRESET).
And I'm curious whether a 500 keyboard could be used as a replacement part
for a 2000.
