Memo #27068 From: pselverstone Date: Wed, 17 Aug 88 09:36:30 EDT To: papa Message-Id: <memo.27068> In-Reply-To: <memo.26650> Subject: Usenet message Thanks Marco. In all of this there is a significant point that (I believe) has not occurred to people. All interlaced displays have motion artifacts. To see this consider a single contrasting pixel moving vertically at exactly 60 lines per second; depending on its odd-even field phasing, the pixel will either be visible or totally invisible. At rates close to 60 lines per second (and its harmonics) the pixel will flicker at a difference frequency. This "second-order flicker" has nothing to do with the normal flicker of static interlaced Amiga displays. Flicker fixer changes the appearence of motion artifacts and users who are concerned with the de-interlaced appearence of animated displays should look at the display to determine if it is suitable for their application. I think it is fair to say that the majority of users have found this to be a non-issue.
