[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Writting SCSI commands to the C.Ltd controller

barrett@ektools.UUCP (Chris Barrett) (08/24/88)

HELP! Anyone know how to write SCSI commands to devices that are connected
to the C.Ltd SCSI interface? I'm still trying to connect a streaming tape
drive to my Amiga. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Chris.

Me too!!! - The C-Ltd documentation mentions that you can connect tape
drives to their I/F, but they give no instructions at all, and I've found
their telephone support to be *lousy*, which is a pig when I have to
phone from England !!!

The documentation says that there are SCSI Read and Write programs on the
disk, but *I* didn't get any......

Oh, and does anyone know what the latest release of the C-Ltd software for
the controller is ???

Oh, I beg to differ, C.Ltd has some of the best support I have ever
recieved, albet they are a little slow on the phone :-). I was having a
problem once and they sent me a $50 MacII->SCSI style cable for free (I had
only bought their controller so they were under little if no obligation to
support my home-brew drive .... :-), now that's what I call GOOD customer
relations.

Gee, I called them back a few months later (well after my warranty was
up!) and they sent me an upgraded version of their SCSIDOS disk and a manual
disk too (I had a problem that was related to an old version of SCSIDOS by
a fellow USENETer).

Currently at 2.06 by my last venture. At AmiEXPO Ed Lippart (company
President/founder) said when AmigaDOS v1.3 comes out (uugghhh :-), C.Ltd
will release SCSIDOS v3.0. This is in beta test now, and they just keep
fine tuning it whenever CA comes out with a new version (gamma, omega,...
:-) of AmigaDOS v1.3. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.
