Our netnews feed is hopelessly backed up, so please forgive me if this has been discussed recently. ----- Carnegie Mellon doesn't support Async service to university residences for a number of reasons, but they do offer Appletalk (Phone Net) and IBM Token Ring service... Ethernet won't be up for about a year, and I have a 1000, so Token Ring is out...soooo: Has anyone heard of a product, or rumors of a product that would allow an Amiga to hook up to an AppleTalk network? I've heard that AppleTalk is quite close to RS-422, which is a close neighbor to RS-232. It doesn't seem like such a product would be that difficult to build... Good software would be a must too. CM distributes something known as "MacIP" when you purchase the connection to allow users to telnet and ftp to machines on campus... (my main objective)... Print spooling to campus printers would be really nice to. I'm willing to spend upwards of $350 for this. Any pointers would be appreciated. -John Kalucki john.kalucki@andrew.cmu.edu ...!ucbvax!andrew.cmu.edu!john.kalucki ...!psuvax1!andrew.cmu.edu!john.kalucki
