[net.micro] V20 & Plain Recorder

knudsen (12/15/82)

Steve -- I don't have a V20, but a review in Personal COmputing's Buyers Guide
said that the Commo recorder uses the digital waveform directly.
That makes the recording circuitry simpler, but the playback more complex.
Bottom line is, you would have to add a "sliecer" circuit (zer-crossing detector)
to you plain recorder's output, so as to present TTL logic levels (0 or 1)
to your Vic. It's a very simple circuit for a HW hacker, but of course
nobody's gonna guarantee it will work. Most home computers have the slicer
inside, except the original PET, which also used direct digital recording
on its built-in casette deck.
