[comp.sys.amiga.tech] CMI board & 1.3 stuff

billc@percival.UUCP (William J. Coldwell) (09/30/88)

Ok, many of you have been calling us up with a complaint that some one
posted here, and told people in his area about. This complaint was
that the Processor Accelerator program would lock up under 1.3 ROM
when kciking to 14 MHz. That had us all scratching our heads here,
thinking that the 1.3 ROMs that CBM was using may not be fast enough
to run at 14MHz.

Well, to make a short story long, it came to pass that 1.3 is very
much capable of running at 14MHz (ROM that is), and that the problem
was that the original release programs are trying to be used. The
programs "Togglespeed" and "InstallMC" are no longer to be used, as
they have been combined and fixed. The newer program is called "PA"
and is available on PLINK, local BBSs, and even at your local dealers
who sell Processor Accelerators. *PLEASE* do not post problems to
UseNet without first Emailing us with it, so that we can address it
without wasting precious bandwidth. This is also to prevent out
(our) phone lines from being flooded with people asking the same
question about why the Processor Accelerator doesn't work under 1.3
, when these people don't even HAVE 1.3...

Again: If you are having a problem with the Processor Accelerator,
EMail us, or give us a call BEFORE you plaster it all over the
place.. the answer may be quite simple.

Oh, and you people foaming at the mouth about benchmarks, well,
up on PLINK there is a file called PAUTILS90.arc or something
like that... it has benchmarks in there, along with the benchmark
programs. Also, dealers who carry the PA will have the PA Dealer
Demo with programs that use the math chip, show benchmarks and
other do-hickies...

Sorry this is so long, but this needed to be said.

Remember: ANY speed increase is better than NO speed increase.
