Personally, I find the script bit one of the most irritating changes in 1.3. As far as I can see, it does nothing that can't already be done (after all, the shell can just try to LoadSeg() the file, and if it fails and the Execute bit is on, try and execute it as a script), and adds an inelegant extra bit. About the only rational for its existence I can see is that it's a quick fix to the fact that just about every file in the known Amiga universe has the Execute bit turned on (and thus shells will think they're all scripts). This could have been fixed by supplying a utility that turned the execute bit off on all the files in a directory tree; people could then use Protect to turn the Execute bit back on for their scripts. The Amiga file system has all these mode bits already defined; why not use them? I hope 1.4 will pay attention to them all. -- "You're a prisoner of the dark sky/The propeller blades are still And the evil eye of the hurricane's/Coming in for the kill" Chris Siebenmann uunet!utgpu!{ontmoh!moore, ncrcan}!ziebmef!cks cks@ziebmef.UUCP or .....!utgpu!{,ontmoh!,ncrcan!brambo!}cks
