The situation is this: a brand new 2000 w/ the 2 Meg expansion and flicker fixer. The machine worked fine and I crashed my F-18 into the carrier deck a couple of times. I then decided to attach the external 3.5 inch diskette drive so I could start backing up my new software. When I turned the machine on, the caps lock light would blink and the keyboard wouldn't respond at all, though the computer ran fine and had no problem accessing the external drive. I turned the machine off, unplugged the external drive and turned it on again. Same problem. I turned it off and left it off for about twenty minutes. When I turned it on again, the problem was gone and the machine was completely back to normal. I then tried re-attaching the external drive and the whole process happened over again. I'm baffled. In a related issue, what is the hard disk indicator LED attached to? It seems to blink when there is disk activity, but it often just stays on and blinks brighter when there is disk activity. Thanks in advance for your help. ======== Darren Leigh Internet: dleigh@hplabs.hp.com UUCP: hplabs!dleigh
