OK.  I understand the meanings of re-executable and reentrant programs.
Now what I need is a specific set of rules one must follow in writing
a program so that the resulting program is PURE.

Carolyn Scheppner gave a talk at DevCon '88 just about that topic.  Her
notes are part of the Conference Notes, and should be available from
CATS some time in the future in a galaxy near you :-) Lauren, any details
on release dates for DevCon Notes?

And a definitive Yes/No answer for existing commands.  The
trial-and-error resident-able test recommended in the manual
is less than ideal.
