I second the motion that PDP-11 is the easiest thing on earth to write assembly code for. I wrote a huge I/O package for it 3 years ago & maintained several inches thick of other code, and forgot that I had done it -- because it just wan't bad enogugh to be remembered as assembly programming! I think the 8086 may be more powerful, but neither I nor a compiler are likely to understand it well enuf to squeeze all that power out.. I just wish those one-chip 11's had come out a year ago. mike k
