I recently posted a note about problems getting two Starboard2's playing together on my A1000. That's still a problem, and I'd still appreciate help. But now I have another question: I have been running the PC file transfer program found on the 1.2/1.3 extras disk for some time, with no problems. System was an A1000 with a BearBoards 2 meg external non-autoconfigure memory board (at 400000- 5fffff). I change the external memory from the BearBoard to a Starboard2 (2 megs, external, autoconfiguring, at 200000-3fffff), and no other changes, and the PC file transfer program complains about not being able to find the 5-1/4" drive. The Startup-sequences are identical, except that the Starboard startup deletes an "addmem" command. By the way, I did succeed in getting 4 megs of external memory to work reliably for a week solid: it was the Bearboard next to the Amiga, and a Starboard next to the Bearboard. What are people's experiences with grounding PALs and replacing PALs? Has anyone tried grounding PALs to solve a problem with expansion, and had that not help, and then replaced the PALs and had that solve the problem?? What about other variations on that theme (e.g., replacing didn't help, but later grounding did ...) Tom Bruhns tomb%hplsla@hplabs.hp.com
