When I originally got the first two, the manual said not to clean heads at all, due to the possible damage one could cause, (they referred to the head gimbal mounts). Later, I got two more, and the later published manual said to clean the heads with a good (?) commercial head cleaning system (I have used the Clean Cycle, no plug intended). I had to send in one of the old drives when it failed, and the fix sheet said something to the effect 'head assembly replaced due to excessive oxide build-up from improper cleaning' (catch22?). Apparently they now have stronger gimbal mounts for heads, so they allow for cleaning heads. Hope this is useful.. Dick.. -------
