Hi out there ...
I've just ordered WB1.3 with KS1.3, and now I'm wondering if it's possible
to have both ROM's (1.2 & 1.3) in my B2000.
I'm thinking of building a little board where all pins of the ROM's are
coupled in parallel except the two chipselect pins. I plan to connect them as:
------
*cs--------------*----------! !
(SOCKET) ! ----- ! OR !--- *cs(ROM1)
+5v ! +-!NOT!--! !
! ! ! ----- ------
/ ! !
10k\ ! ! ------
/ +-)--------! !
/ ! ----- ! ! OR !--- *cs(ROM2)
+-/ ---*-!NOT!---*--------! !
! ----- ------
0v
and then use the switch to select KickStart version.
Is this possible? Have I overlooked something?
If this will work: what pin is chipselect?
If it won't: Is there an equally simple way to do this?
Yes I know that you can buy boards which have space for one KS ROM and
4 sockets for the other KS version in EPROM. But I think it would be a waste
to buy a KS ROM, send it to somebody along with some money and 4 EPROMS, wait
for him/her to burn the EPROMS ,buy a board, mount the parts and put the KS
ROM away.
And I know too that it will void my warranty.
The reason that I want to do this is that I expect some copyprotections
to break under KS1.3 and a lot of software to break when 1.4 shows up. With
the board I'll be able to have 1.2 at hand any time. ( I think that 1.2
will let all the "old" things run ,as it is THE standard for "ROM-jmp'ers")
Thanks in advance.
