[comp.sys.amiga.tech] I can't get RAD to work, HELP!!!

jmsc@inesc.UUCP (Miguel Casteleiro) (03/04/89)

   Hi net,

I have a plain A2000 (PAL) with the original 1MB RAM expansion card
inserted in the CPU slot. I filled the second half of the card to get a
full 1BM of FAST RAM. The switches are in this positions (with the chips
faced up):

          -----------------------

  o o o o o
          | | | |
  o o o o o

          ------- -------
                 \_______/

I'm using Workbench V1.3 and Kickstart V1.3 in ROM (Workbench 34.20,
Kickstart 34.5).
When I mount RAD and try a boot from it (with the Ctrl-Amiga-Amiga), I
get a [Error validating disk Key 121 checksum error] error requester.
When I boot from a floppy disk and try a "dir RAD:" I get a [Volume RAD
as a read/write error] error requester.
It works fine without the extra 512K (when only the original 512K of
FAST RAM are activated) or after the guru visits the amiga (with 1MB of
FAST RAM activated). I've checked all the 1MB of FAST RAM and no chip is
damaged.
It seems to me that the reset is trashing the contents of the RAM in
the expansion card (problems with the refreshing cycles of the dynamic
rams?).

How can I solve this problem? Does anyone have the same problem?

   PLEASE HELP!!!

It's really disappointing not being able to use RAD or VDK.

Thanks in advance for any help.
