Hello all you Tech types, I am having a great big problem. I Just bought a used amiga 1000 w/ 512K. It replaced a 128 system which was just getting too small for my purposes. The problem is that I was unable to sell my monitor with the package, So I have an RGBI/composite monitor hooked up to the 1000 (Thompson 4160/36382). This is not in itself a problem, except that the Verticle sync seems to be messed up. I can turn the vertical hold adjust on the front of the monitor and the hold position is just outside of the limit of the control. The other direction from center yields faster rolling with no hold position. I have isolated that the monitor is not at fault, bacause it works just fine on the 128 RGB interlace mode. The cable I made is correct (I have checked this at lease 5 times...) since the verticle sync is the problem, I tried both pins 12-9 and 10-9 and neither combo stopped the rolling. I later scoped the RGB port and found all the signals to be present (although I am not sure if the frequency was correct) I tried my roommate's Amiga monitor, and the video is perfect. Oh also, the Thompson on composite is just fine, except that everything in certain applications is dayglow orange or a nausiating green which makes things utterly unreadable.) do I have any recource other than trading in the Thompson, or is there something I can do. (I realy wouldn't mind the tradein, but well, Mr. Visa and I have been getting a little too chummy laytely and I have been trying to cut back before I get myself neck deep in debt.)
