Help!!! I've been trying to put togeather the Dual Pin Header for the Lucas project, and I've had not luck. The idea is to get something to connect the lucas board to the amiga's 68K socket., with a .6" spacing so that we have the following: (Lucas board) ------------------------------ .6 |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| (64 .018" pins) ------------------------------ ---------68K socket----------- I've tried to follow Brad's instructions: "The easiest method is to buy two 64 pin 68000-like sockets (aga in gold is best) and connect them together with 64 bits of wire." However I was unable to find 68K sockets, so I tried to hack it out with 16 pin sockets (It looked horrible and is SO unstable that I can say with confidence that it will never work, in fact I could never get it completely togeather at one time). And from my experience I can see that even with 64 pin sockets, it would be almost as bad. So, Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how I can get/make some kind of connector? At this point I'm open to almost anything (scrapping the project looks more and more likely), so I'de appreciate any suggestions... +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Disclaimer: Me? Rick, Can I really allow such a heartfelt plea to go unrewarded. I have one of these connectors left in my parts box from the development of LUCAS and if you feel that you will indeed abandon the project unless you can get the connector, then I could let you have it. Email me if you want it. Brad

Brad, Where can I get that connector? I'm in the biz and I have never seen one. Thanks, Craig

I managed to get a connector (a grad student here at CMU managed to get me some header pins which seem to work... however now when I hooked up the LUCAS board, it didn't work-> when powered the power light didn't flash, the screen stayed black and the song didn't play... I'm going to check over all the connections, but they look good... a strange thing is that the resistance from +5V to GND is 529ohms (I believe that the resistance should have been around 270), I've checked all the orientations of the chips and the polarity of the of the tant. caps, about the only thing I'm kind of wondering is the orientation of the SIPs (I aligned the mark on the sips with the silk screen's "1"s so I should think that's the correct orientation...) Do the U9 varients cause it to do aboslutly nothing? How about bad grounding, I'll try grounding the amiga's PALs, but somehow I've got a feeling that the problem lies somewhere on the board it self... +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Disclaimer: Me? Samtec makes just what you're looking for. Find out who's your local electronics distributer for Samtec and see if they can get some for you. If you give me a ring at work one of these days, I can come up with a part number. (And maybe a phone number to find the distributers...) The part you need is a machined standoff that solders to the bottom of the Lucas board and plugs into the Amigas 68000 socket without damaging said socket, right? : +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ : | Disclaimer: Me?
