[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Fried resistors

panzer@guava.ucsb.edu (Panzer) (03/29/89)

I just finished setting up my new (used) modem with my 500. In
the process, I managed to fry two resistors on the serial port.
(I was changing from an Amiga 1000 serial connector to the 500's
and reversed the pins, thus connecting the +12V and -12V together.
I knew I had done something wrong when I smelled the smoke...)
Nothing else seems to be wrong, and I'm using the modem right now.
Since I don't use the +/-12V lines, do the resistors need to be
replaced immediately? Does anybody know what resistances and
wattages they were (they're too blackened to read the color code)?
The part numbers are EMI502 and EMI503.

Also, does anyone have a termcap entry for the Amiga? I saw one
a while ago on one of the Amiga groups, but it's gone now. If
you have it, please send it to me via E-mail. Thanks!
