[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Noisy Fan on 2000

I haven't checked this on the Amiga yet, so I'm perfectly qualified to
comment: Your guess is obviously correct, and there are two
mechanisms: mechanical and acoustical. Mechanical covers motor noise
like bearings. Acoustical is much more interesting and covers "white"
noise effects that result from cramming the air through grates and
filters, and siren effects that result from the fan blades rotating
near supporting members and chopping the air stream. It is difficult to
eliminate this noise without keeping the fan blades away from
miscellaneous gratings. Even the fan motor struts aggravate the problem.
