[comp.sys.amiga.tech] LUCAS Memory Board Probs -- Update

kgschlueter@violet.waterloo.edu (Kevin Schlueter) (04/26/89)

I'm the one who posted news about my LUCAS board not working with my
memory board (a RAMBOard 2 from Technisoft). Basically, when my memory
board is attached, my Amiga loads kickstart and then freezes (doesn't
put up the picture of the workbench disk). I've tried building a bus
terminator and various 74xxx74's. The lucas board works fine without
expansion devices and with a Comspec SCSI board.

I tried configuring the board under KS1.1. This is done in two steps. First,
I ran the "config" program (which probably tells the memory board what
addresses it should reside at) and then I ran the addmem program (which
I think adds the memory to the freelist). Well, the config program worked,
and the addmem command completed (ie it said "XXX Bytes added to system" and
the CLI prompt reappeared) and then the system rebooted.

My supposition is that a fast memory access causes the system to reset.
I don't know why this is happenning. I could also be wrong about the
functions of the config program and addmem.

As always, any ideas would be appreciated. Perhaps someone at Commodore
could tell me what addmem does and what the amiga would do shortly after
memory was added using addmem.
