Disgusted withe the price of multi-serial cards for the Amiga, I decided to take up building my own, with the help of a EE friend who has experience with such things on other computers. Using the Hardware Reference Manual's bus description, we built a small board with the necessary circuit, and got it to the point where it would somewhat respond to peeks and pokes from basic. The problem is that debugging the circuit is incredibly difficult since most of the testing causes gurus or more often, freezes. This is when I remembered that the Amiga often sends a little message starting with "romwack" out the serial port when it gurus. We hoped this would provide a little more insight into what is happening, but we can't seem to get the romwack messages anymore. WHAT IS THE ROM-WACK? If it's what is sounds like, a mini-debugger in ROM, then by all means I NEED it. Does there anywhere exist documentation on it's messages, or is there a way to USE it with a terminal attached? Actually, the multi-serial cards only exist for the 2000 anyway, right? So this board is both desireable and necessary... Please Help! ... Ben Discoe, struggling tech freshman
