there is a (NEW?) book from Abacus that is telling you about some dark secrets about the amiga. It is called "AMIGA SYSTEM PROGRAMMING GUIDE" and there is a PART II scheduled (more exactly : ADVNCED SYSTEM PROGRAMMING) why is that book interesting ? because it tells you about things like reset proof subroutines, direct access to the hardware (what ? do I hear some BOOOHOOO!!! in the background ? hey its my life not yours !!! -my computer too-) like copper lists, blitter etc... the book is $35 and the disk $15. the program on the disk are fully documented. and for once they are not written in C. they are in ASM .

Everything I've ever seen from Abacus assumes you have a monotasking machine with fixed ROMs. Can you say C64 mentality? >reset proof subroutines, direct access to the hardware I'm not surprised. What worries me is that people use this info (which may be mostly right in the current release, but will be mostly wrong in the future). Reading Abacus books is like reading horoscopes and biorythms. They're interesting and to some people they're gospel but I think they should be treated as entertainment and nothing more. >do I hear some BOOOHOOO!!! in the background ? hey its my life not yours !!! Sounds like you agree with me. ..bob

Well at least I could get a hold of that book... Maybe people got their RKM easy with plenty of C examples, but I had to fight to get the library and device! And after a year (Not everyday) of searching for the EXEC, INTUITION ,HARDWARE, and other I gave up.I ready to wait until release of kikstart 6.5 until keeting any... So everything you be make for well' educated' C programers?:-) Myself I learned to live with my include files, but book like that are for FUN! I found that book the MOST interesting of the one available on the amiga... Or you even Push yourself people to get that book,'everything you shoulnd do' :-)
