[comp.sys.amiga.tech] CMI-board info needed.

dizzy@freja.diku.dk (John Bach Jensen) (07/14/89)

I have some questions concerning the CMI-board.

1. Is it possible to mount RAM on the board ?
2. If the answer to 1. is "Yes", can you use faster RAM-chips to take
advantage of the higher clock-frequency ?
3. Are there any known compability problems ?
4. What are the prices for the different configurations ?

Thanks in advance.

John Bach Jensen.

From article <4633@freja.diku.dk:, by dizzy@freja.diku.dk (John Bach Jensen):
: I have some questions concerning the CMI-board.

I'm going to assume you mean the Processor Accelerator, as opposed
to the CMInet or one of the video boards...

: 1. Is it possible to mount RAM on the board ?
No, there's no provision for ram onboard. there was a design done
for the 2000 that supported a ram expansion, but that one pretty much died
due to lack of interest from the customers...
: 2. If the answer to 1. is "Yes", can you use faster RAM-chips to take
: advantage of the higher clock-frequency ?
On that design, the memory would have run at 14MHz, other expansion
memory could have been run at 7, 10.5 or 14... (The Micron seemed to run just
fine at 10.5)
: 3. Are there any known compability problems ?
Yes, there have been compatibility problems with the Microbotics
Hardframe and the Pacific Peripherals Overdrive. There is also one piece of
software out there (Disk2Disk) that doesn't run correctly at 14MHz.
: 4. What are the prices for the different configurations ?
	$250 retail for the 500 or 2000 version, $280 for the 1000.
: Thanks in advance.
		Any time!
