I have a friend with an A2000 who is having a little trouble with the way his second internal floppy is interacting. He had a friend put it in for him, and is not very computer literate so has no idea what the friend did. Anyway here is the problem: The drive works fine as df1: (and the original drive works fine as df0:) but when booting or accessing df0: the drive light does not come on in df0: but in df1: (and df1: is not running as far as I can tell). When he reads from df1: the drive light to df1: comes on correctly (and flickers on and off properly as the heads access the floppy) but df0: also comes on at this time with a steady solid (no flicker as df1: light does during head acces) and it does not go off till df1: is done accessing. I have never had this trouble and I am not sure what it is a sign off. I did not have the time to take it appart and see if the cables are missaligned or something. Does anyone have an idea what the specific cause of this could be before I open it up for him and see if I can find an obvious cause (assuming there is only one possible cause)???? Any help/ideas would be appreciated. The person who did the drive for him is in California and my friend is now here in Illinois again about an hour's drive from me with no nearby obvious dealership to stop in so I am going to see if I can easily trouble shoot the cause. Please send me email if you have any idea of the potential source of the problem. Or if there could be several possible different causes I would appreciate knowing what I might look for.
