Has anybody tried Commodore's A2090A HD controller with the Tool Box from
Phoenix? If it doesn't work, is there another ST506 controller that does?
(maybe without DMA and/or autobooting) I have an A1000 with a Wedge system
and am planning on a Toolbox, but from previous discussion the passthru
seems mostly useless, so I'm looking for a controller that'll go inside
the box instead. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Steve:
I've got a ToolBox (mine from Expansion Technologies) with a 2090A.
Although the setup didn't work right the 1st few tries, it's been performing
like a champ for 5 months now. I have personally checked out ST251's and an
old Priam 80 meg (seem to have trouble with my trusty old ST225 though -
could it be too slow {65 ms} for the 2090A????). Anyways, the answer to my
initial problems was the purchase of a little bus termination card from
Expansion Tech. I plugged it onto the pass-through connector, and voila!
- perfection. Apparently my system was just too noisy (it would hardly
qualify as 'stock' anymore). If you get a toolbox, let me know how you
fare.....
