Recently I was replacing a friend's A1000 internal drive with a Sony 3.5" floppy and after it was all done (it needed only two jumper resistors moved) I tried to use the same drive in my A2000. Guess what, it didn't work in an A2000 but worked fine in the A1000. Now I got the bright idea to check the C= docs for the A1000 and A2000. I see that the A2000 has much the same signals as the A1000, but the A2000 has defined two lines that I have no idea what they do. These lines are _INUSE0 and _INUSE1. _INUSE0 is connected to pins 6 and 14 which is drive 4 and drive 3 select respectively on the Sony. _INUSE1 is connected to pin 4 in the A2000 and this is an alternate MOT0D* in the A1000. Also pin 3 is not connected in the A2000, why not grounded like the Sony and A1000? Now you might ask why bother with this Sony drive? Well it cost my friend about $40 _NEW_ at a local computer show. If I can find out what _INUSEx does I could probably set up the Sony properly for the A2000. -- Technical Advisor of Ohio Valley Amiga Users Group (Cincinnati Ohio P.O.
