[comp.sys.amiga.tech] 1084S monitor dead, 1084 wierd

My roomate this summer has a Tandy 1000. After seeing my old 1080
monitor, he went out and bought a 1084S (the magnavox - squared off one)
monitor for his Tandy. The thing worked great untill the warantee expired.
Then, it seems to have lost the power supply. We sent it off to be repaired
gritting our teeth at the bill that would be coming. However, the repair
place said they couldn't fix it, and would we take a brand new 1084 in
return for our broken 1084S. With a gleam in our eyes, we took the new
monitor home. When he pulled it out of the box, I was amazed with the
sight of a monitor that looks exactly like my old 1080. Wow! I said, we
really got a deal. However, when we connected it to the Tandy, it
looked terrible. Fuzzy, almost out of focus, blurry, basically ick.
Hooked to my Amiga, however, this monitor looks great. It makes my
old 1080 look like so much trash. So we hooked my 1080 to his Tandy, and
IT looked terrible, too. (although marginally better)
What is the deal with the digital RGB inputs on the 1080 and 1084?
Is it just a no-go situation, or is the Tandy screwed? Should we send the
1084 back and demand a 1084S which worked perfectly before?
Anybody out there using a commodore monitor on a Tandy?
