I have an A500 with a board on the Bus to allow 2 A2000 Expasion cards to be used. On this board I have an A2090 with a 10Meg drive. Things have been great (since the change from floppies) until I bought a cheap 40Meg drive at a REAL GOOD Price ($30 plus an hour of work). Needless to say this is not a factory fresh drive, although it was supposed to have been tested on a MeSsy Dos system out to second level. Now for the problem: The drive spins up ok, is mounted ok, and takes all the PREP commands ok, it even seems to go out and do something for about 20 secs on the 40 Meg drive. Then I get the CONCISE message that my drive has not been PREPPED! That's nice! Could you be a little more specific!!! I have no idea why my drive cannot be prepped, just that it can't be. Question: Does anybody have a Low Level formatter that will work on the C= A2090 controller for ST506 type drives? I would be greatly indebted to the person who could mail one to me. :) While I am at it, does anybody have a utility that will map out the bad blocks on a disk (even if only by setting the blocks free map to used). It would be nice if it would work on HardDrives and Floppies ;) Robert Anderson C= Amiga $^) Research Computing Center UNH (603) 862-4518
