From: Allan Weber <WEBER@usc-eclc.arpa> I have been using a Sinclair ZX-81 (1k ram) with a Sony cassette recorder and have had no shortage of headaches with the LOAD command. However I was able to get rid of most of them after reading a copy of the newer manual that comes with the Timex version of the ZX. Unlike the my Sinclair manual, the Timex manual suggests not having the earphone and microphone cables connected simultaneously when SAVEing a program. Apparently most recorders feed the signal being recorded back out the earphone to allow you to monitor what's being recorded and this bothers the ZX-81. Since I started doing SAVEs with only the microphone cable connected, the chance of getting the program to later LOAD has gone up greatly. Hope this helps somebody. Allan Weber -------
