The response to the First AmigaUsers Compendium was overwhelming.. There were a couple of people who did not get their name into the list for the simple reason of not either a) reading the whole message about what the Compendium is about b) Not sending their entry in the proper format I cannot stress point b) enough.. I got 60 entries this time around and had to manually edit alot of them. Please follow the guide lines listed below. Trev ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A while ago someone started an AmigaUsers List. I don't know what became of this list but I am willing to start another. This list will be posted once a month (ie the first of every month). It will also be continually updated as well. The idea of this list is to provide a database of users with a common background of the Amiga. Having your name on the list shows others your interests on the Amiga and the possibility of being able to help others out. The list will be called 'AmigaUsers Compendium' and will have the following format. Last Name, Given Name Occupation, Company/Educat. Inst. City,Prov/State Email Address System Configuration (ie Major Hardware components/Rom version/Hard drive etc) Key-Numbers (more information about this below) Comment Line (ONE line only) Key Numbers are numbers which will serve as an index into a list of 'interest' groups. These groups are ones that you might be able to answer questions in, or just areas that you are interested in. The numbers should be seperated by a SINGLE space and not a comma. Each entry is limited to FIVE (5, cinq, V) lines. An example entry in the proper format would be the following: Kilroy, Joe Grad Student, University of HardKnocks Erehwon, Prost uunet!{site1, site2}!jackson!hell!kilroy 2000, 1.3, 1 MB, 1080, HardFrame, Conner CP3100, Yamaha D-7, SuperMidi 1.1 5.2 3.1 1.3 1.2 Solid knowledge of graphics, and avid game player, and midi expert Also provided with the Compendium will be a program that will read in the list and will allow you to pull names based on the key numbers. I have broken down interest groups into main groups and then into sub-groups. So key number 6.2 would be Group 6 (Graphics) and sub-group 2 (Art). Marking group 6.0 (ie the Group title) means you are interested in all areas of Amiga Graphics and/or are willing to answers questions on them. The Interest groups are listed below. Lets make this work everyone. This is your chance to help others and get help from others. You will also be able to find out more about those 'others' on the net. Send your entry to the list to one of the following email adresses: uunet!{ubc-cs,utai,alberta}!calgary!paquette calgary!paquette@cs.ubc.ca paquette@cpsc.ucalgary.ca Please set the subject line accordingly to the one of either the following: AmigaUsers Compendium: for new entries AmigaUsers Update: for your updated entry Please to not post it here.
