There should be a Rev 6.2 out (motherboard) which should solve some problems still resident in 6.1. Could anybody tell me what those problems were, if there IS a Rev. 6.2 ??? (I just HEARD about it - you know how it goes.) My local dealer opened a 2000 for me - from his latest shipment - and it was a Rev 6.1... Maybe it's not available yet (here)??? If anybody has some info, please mail me - I don't always have time to read comp.sys.amiga... Thanx in advance! AXEL (morsinac@econ.vu.nl)

The following is the text of a letter I received from CBM's Technology Group. Since it was not marked confidential, I feel free to publish its content. While it doesn't shed any of the real details, at least it explains CBM's policy on when and how one could upgrade from rev 6.0/6.1 to rev 6.2. "Re: A2000 rev6.0 and rev6.1 boards The A2000 rev6 motherboard was implemented to change to 256Kx4 DRAMs, due to a shortage of 256Kx1 DRAMs. This coincided with the release of the new AGNUS chip (8372) that supports 1MB of chip RAM. It has come to our attention that some expansion boards do not work as reliably in some rev6 motherboards as in previous revs. Rev6.2 motherboards correct this condition. Our service centers have been briefed on this change and will either repair or replace any rev 6.0 or 6.1 motherboard that is found to exhibit this behavior to bring the board up to revision level 6.2". The letter is addressed to "Technical Support Organizations Worldwide". I don't know if this means that all "authorized" dealers are aware of it. (I wish an "official" CBM support person could comment on this.) -- Marco Papa 'Doc' -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= uucp:...!pollux!papa BIX:papa ARPAnet:pollux!papa@oberon.usc.edu "There's Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Diga and Caligari!" -- Rick Unland -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
