[net.micro] IBM peanut ??

pvl (01/28/83)

Ok, rumor time. My wife's accounting teacher referred to an IBM
"peanut" computer which was supposed to be coming out sometime.
Supposed price range is $600. Anybody have any confirmation or
denial??

Confirmed rumor, or at least I read about it in Newsweek, in the
Apple Lisa article. ...$600 seems a little cheap, though.

HEY! What's all this about computers costing "00" or "00.00"? Can
someone explain this code to me?

The IBM "peanut" was written about in the Wall Street Journal (Tuesday,
Jan. 18 1983). Prices were supposed to be $600 to $750. This will
include a single unit which is both the keyboard and the CPU, and it
plugs into a standard color television. It will be sold to the "mass
market" through outlets such as Sears, J.C. Penny, and K-mart. Info
such as compatability with the standard P.C. and/or availability is
not known at this time. If you need more info, get the article from
the Wall Street Journal.
