Disclaimer: before everbody thinks I'm completely crazy for wanting to
to use a keyboard with a whacko lay out, when a perfectly
nice one comes with the machine, let me explain.
I would like to use the A2000 in an embedded aplication, where you need
a real rugged key board! Now I know suppliers who make keyboards that
you can drive a truck over, and they still work, but the problem is
the interface is for IBM XT, or AT type machines.
I am not a hardware type, so I'm appealing to the net's collective
technical expertise to help me out on this one!
Can I hook one of these keyboards up to an A2000? What mods. are
necessary?
I don't care if the scan codes coming out of the key board are compatible.

Being one of those weird types who thinks that IBM's keyboards are heaven on earth, I've thought about interfacing an IBM keyboard to the Amiga quite a bit. While not (at all) directly compatible, it wouldn't be too terrifically hard to build an intelligent interface, using something like a 6803 or 8051, which would accept IBM keyboard input and produce Amiga keyboard output. You would have to build and program the sucker, though - as far as I know, no one makes such a product off-the-shelf. -- Mike Farren farren@well.sf.ca.usa
