Disclaimer: before everbody thinks I'm completely crazy for wanting to to use a keyboard with a whacko lay out, when a perfectly nice one comes with the machine, let me explain. I would like to use the A2000 in an embedded aplication, where you need a real rugged key board! Now I know suppliers who make keyboards that you can drive a truck over, and they still work, but the problem is the interface is for IBM XT, or AT type machines. I am not a hardware type, so I'm appealing to the net's collective technical expertise to help me out on this one! Can I hook one of these keyboards up to an A2000? What mods. are necessary? I don't care if the scan codes coming out of the key board are compatible. -- Frank Anthes-Harper : Bien le bonjour de la France anthes@geocub.greco-prog.fr

Being one of those weird types who thinks that IBM's keyboards are heaven on earth, I've thought about interfacing an IBM keyboard to the Amiga quite a bit. While not (at all) directly compatible, it wouldn't be too terrifically hard to build an intelligent interface, using something like a 6803 or 8051, which would accept IBM keyboard input and produce Amiga keyboard output. You would have to build and program the sucker, though - as far as I know, no one makes such a product off-the-shelf. -- Mike Farren farren@well.sf.ca.usa
