[comp.sys.amiga.tech] Lucas & Kronos compatibility

Anybody here successfully hooked up a Kronos HD controller to a LUCAS
enhanced 1000? I can get Kronos to work fine when my 68000 is in the saddle,
and my OLD CLTD HD controller works wonderfully with my LUCAS, but Kronos
with LUCAS generally dies very soon into the startup-sequence (when it even
gets that far). The tech.assistant at CLTD said the two should work together,
but I won't believe it until I hear it from someone else. My LUCAS works
great with all my other hardware/software (finally).

BTW, I diskperfed my old CLTD controller vs. Kronos with my ST277N drive.
Under the exact same circumstances (and with a 68000), the Kronos was
faster by about 17%. Something like 260K/sec for Kronos vs. 230K for the
original controller. That was with 256K buffers. At smaller sizes the
difference was even smaller, with the original controller winning once or
twice. Writes were almost identical and SLOW-somewhere around 60K/sec max.

Don't get me wrong, I think my old CLTD controller's great, but I think
the Kronos specs may be a little sssttrreecchheeeed-out. With LUCAS&FRANCES
I'm seeing 260K reads AND writes with the old controller-which is pretty
nice. I won't mind sending back the Kronos if that's what I have to do.
But it would be nice to auto boot.
