I built a LUCAS 68020 board for my Amiga, which had some problems until I fitted the PIXAR U9 patch, it now boots every time. The trouble started when I plugged my SideCar (A1060) back in. I use half the disk on the SideCar for the Amiga and the following sequence is followed in my Startup-sequence to get things going: (i) BindDrivers ;at which point I always the SideCar reseting. (ii) Mount JH0: ; This always is ok too, it sets up the device list to contain the SideCar disk device JH0:. I dont use DJMount. (iii) I do an assign or dir which tries to access the SideCar disk, but now the command just hangs looking like it is waiting for something. In this state one can usually open another CLI and carry on as long as one doesnt touch the device list as it often seems locked. The SideCar seems to autoconfigure correctly it just seems unable to communicate via its shared memory. I have a PAL (non NTSC) Amiga, it does not have a daughter board for the KickStart ROMs, they (2) are soldered dirrectly to the mother board, along side 2 empty ROM sites. My LUCAS board has a 20MHZ Xtal and 20MHZ 68881 and 68020. I dont have a lower frequency Xtal so have not check that as the problem. I dont want to become an expert in the details of 680X0 timmings unless there is no other way, and I did like the extra speed. I'm not a desperate junky yet. I am open to helpfull (and otherwise) suggestions. Until recently I didnt see comp.sys.Amiga other that from cross postings to other news groups, so have seen no discussion about LUCAS. As I cant live without my hard disk I have replaced the 68000, however the desire for speed is getting to me again. Clive.
