I spend a lot of my time programming in the MS-DOS world, but lately most of my fun time has been spend with a recently acquired A1000. I don't have a lot of money to acquire more memory or secondary storage at the moment so I have been looking for alternatives. One resource I do have is a seagate 20 Meg HD and a controller (along with an IBM PC (4.77 MHz 8088 :)). One of my friends mentioned a "sidecar" type thing that sat on the exansion bus of an A1000 to allow you to plug in cards that were ment to plug into an IBM PC or compatible. Can anyone tell me more? (cost, advantages, disadvantages) The other "idea" that has crossed my mind lately is to do something like the recent LAN that was implemented using the parallel port, but instead talk to my PC over the parallel (or serial...why?) port. Coding the PC end would be easy for me. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable enough mucking around with devices on the Amiga to write the Amiga end. Has anyone attemped this in the past?
