No Steve, as I understand it (in my limited capacity as an Amiga hacker who only gets to work on his machine 60 hours a week :-), the input.device is the one causing the problem. It does not consider a line entered until RETURN is hit. This is convenient sometimes, i.e. you want to stop the output of the TYPE command so you press SPACE. Now to continue the listing just press BACKSPACE. This deletes the space and the buffer is empty again. This eliminates the need for ^S/^Q which are "invisible" characters. This does not prevent the user from entering a command, say DATE, and pressing RETURN. The output will then continue, and the DATE command will be given as the next input string.
