Help! Last night, when I was downloading a monster file, and then moving other files around for neatness and backing up purposes, a pretty large directory just vanished - I mean the information or `link' to it. It is there alright - info or any other command that shows disk usage still shows the original disk-usage. It has vanished from both the workbench and shell. Listing does not help. I can't access any files in it, simply because I can't cd into the directory. It is there, but the inode[Does the amiga have inodes?] appears to be unlinked or corrupted. Since I am new to the Amiga, having bought it as a Christmas treat, I am not too sure how I can recover the directory. Is there a hard drive salvager, a la Dave Haynie's DiskSalv (Not DiskQuack .. er DiskDoctor) available as PD or shareware? Is there any amiga counterpart to the Unix `clri'? My system is a Amiga 2000HD [Rodime 3055(40 MB), with 2090A] with 3MB. (Sure to be upgraded to either A2500/UX or A3000, when I can afford it, and when they are out) Thanks in advance, Raja.(Programmer-Analyst I, S & P dept, UC Berkeley) raja@{soda,ocf,athena,spanish}.berkeley.edu| root@{athena,spanish}.berkeley.edu {laba-1ad,c60c-4ay}@web.berkeley.edu Disclaimer: I am a poor foreign undergraduate sophomore who just turned 18 half a year ago; if anything serious happens, I plead juvenile delinquency! ***************************************************************************** Raja "The Duke" S Kushalnagar. raja@soda.berkeley.edu laba-1ad@web.berkeley.edu raja@athena.berkeley.edu raja@ocf.berkeley.edu c60c-4ay@web.berkeley.edu root@athena.berkeley.edu
