Is anybody trying to port the Elvis "vi clone" which recently appeared in comp.os.minix over to the Amiga? It runs really well on 386 Unix, and it is subjectively much faster than vi (on the console; Peter says it isn't as smart as vi updating screens, hence a performance hit a low baud rates), plus it can edit larger files than real vi. The author claims that it has something like 97% of all the vi commands, and 93% of all the ex commands. It would be most welcome to switch over from Z. -- -- uunet!sugar!karl "It takes a smart man to know when he's stupid." -- -- Barney Rubble -- Usenet access: (713) 438-5018
