My local Amiga repairman showed me a quick and dirty way to make the Hard Drives that take a long time to spin up, boot. He changes the resistor on the Motherboard that determines the power on reset time. I beleive the resistor is R805. It is usually 47K and we changed mine to around 80K to add about 5 seconds to the boot time. He usually cuts the resistor so the leads remain in the board and then tack sodiers the new resistor onto the old leads. Now my amiga takes a few more seconds to start self test but it boots on the first try every time. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Steve gryphon.com!amy!hansel usc.edu!amy!hansel
