I have also run foul of this problem, and use a workaround - I set up the hard disk like *nix, with a "user" directory, with all the stuff I work on in there. This is easy to regularly backup, and if you keep purging old stuff immediately after a backup, and keep a series disks back through history, you ca keep it down to one or two floppies. Then all you need is less frequent backups of the rest of the system, since (on mine at least) it is stable. Andy Finkel - where are you? Are we going to see any fixes in this for 1.4? And the squashing of the odd bug? A cursorary glance at an alpha 1.4 didn't show ANY memacs - has ed/edit finally won through?
